Learn Filmmaking with us

This course is an introduction to documentary filmmaking as both a creative practice and a way of engaging with the world. It is designed to guide you through the process of making your own documentary film, while exploring the philosophical, ethical and political questions that sit beneath the craft.

My name is Ross Domoney, and I have been making documentaries for 20 years. This craft, which brings me never-ending joy, has taken me to places like Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Chile, Ukraine, and the DRC, to name a few.

Documentary filmmaking is about stepping closer to the complex, often contradictory nature of the world, rather than observing it from a distance.

This style of filmmaking can be a powerful antidote to feeling disconnected or overwhelmed by what’s happening around us. It gives structure to curiosity, turns concern into action, and offers a way to engage deeply rather than numbingly scrolling our way into oblivion on our phones.

There are two tiers to the course below. One is the online course, and the other is the online course + my guided mentorship, which includes three one-hour video calls as you build your film.
